Kate Middleton and Prince William

Prince William and Kate Middleton first met as students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where they both began their studies in 2001. They became friends first, and their relationship blossomed over time. They announced their engagement on November 16, 2010, after eight years of dating, and married on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey. William used his mother, Princess Diana's, sapphire and diamond engagement ring for the proposal, stating it was "my way of keeping [my mother] sort of close to it all". Prince William proposed to Kate during a private holiday in Kenya in October 2010. Kate Middleton and Prince William have been known to have a strong and affectionate relationship and they have three darling children.
